Manikaran sits a short drive past Kasol in the Parvati Valley, built almost entirely around its natural hot springs and the pilgrimage sites that have grown up beside them. Both a Sikh gurdwara and a Hindu temple stand near the springs, and the boiling natural water is used to cook langar meals served free to every visitor.
Beyond the springs themselves, the town's main experience is simply being present for the ritual of it — bathing in the designated hot-spring pools, watching the langar kitchen in constant motion, and taking in the steep valley walls that hem the town in on both sides.
Manikaran works almost exclusively as a half-day add-on to a Kasol stay rather than an overnight destination — most travellers combine the two in a single day trip from Manali. The hot springs remain warm and usable year-round. Two to three hours covers it comfortably.
